About Bilal Qayyum
Bilal believes Art is one of the most important expressing of life and it reflects his own struggle and life experiences in his work to improve the conditions of his community and humanity in general. Bilal started painting again after thirty - five-year absence spent working as a community organizers and social advocate for change in society. Bilal’s paintings are mostly done on canvas in acrylic and mixed media. Bilal’s work is showing the outcome of the struggle of his life, his long commitment to activism for justice, and his strong faith in God. His work is inspired through the use of by bold colors and sampled lines with special attention to detail in creating images of his African American roots.
